Hi,
Has anyone been able to access the ICLP facilities this weekend? I thought that the library opened today at 10am, but when I went there at 10am and 12noon both sets of doors were locked. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to verify the hours because they were not posted on building, and left my ICLP student packet at home.
If anyone makes it in today, could you please email me? I'm at the main library and would like to leave my books, etc. in my ICLP locker if possible.

Hello, I am going to try to go soon as well but am currently at home. The hours are 10-6 today, supposedly. The packet says the following about weekend access: "The Language center building is itself (with the exception of ICLP facilities) closed all day on Saturdays and Sundays. ICLP students thus have to enter from the rear door of the building (southwest corner)." Hope that helps--I will let you know soon if I'm in or not.  |

Sometimes the building is closed for no apparent reason. It happened constantly last year.
I could never figure out the schedule but I did sense that it was open at later hours, after 12pm.
I would talk to the office about it.

Hmmm... I tried to get into the building around 4:30 today and it was locked. I tried all sets of doors (at least 4 different entrances) and was unsuccessful. Can someone tell me what the secret is?

There is no secret. I would talk to the office and figure out why it was closed and how to make sure it stays open.

Huizhen said that she checked and the building was supposedly open on Sunday. She said that we might not have been able to get in because we didn't push/pull correctly on the doors. I tried both pulling/pushing, so I don't think that was the problem.
What about the other person (amandaucsc) that came later in the afternoon?
It seems the ICLP office is not aware that this was a problem last year.

I tried around 4:30pm. I also tried pushing and pulling on every set of doors (sometimes several times until people stared at me). What set of doors are we supposed to be trying? Could she be more specific? To me, the Southwest corner would be the set of doors facing the library--am I wrong? I would really appreciate it if other people could post whether they tried or not. If you would like, I will go into the office tomorrow myself and ask.

They are not aware of it because both Hui-zhen and Joanna did not start working at ICLP until mid november at the earliest.
I reported this problem myself several times to their predecessors, Lin Xiaojie and Wei-ling (both of whom now work on the 2nd and 1st floors of the YuYan ZhongXin).
I still remember one time in may/june having problems opening the doors (and I tried ALL of them), but I don't think I said anything because i went off soon on vacation and forgot to mention it during the summer session.
Double check which doors are open on weekends and if it happens again, report it to the office immediately.
