Hey all! The 2007 Baseball World Cup Finals start on Tuesday here in Taiwan and its a big international event with 16 countries competing, having advanced from the initial rounds. This year they include: Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Thailand, The US, Mexico, Canada, Panama, Cuba, Venezuela, Australia, South Africa, The Netherlands, Italy, Germany and Spain. Half of the games are in Taipei or Taipei County and the other half are in Taichung (about an hour by fast train). The games in Taipei are easily accessible by bus (Bus 606 goes directly from campus to the TienMu stadium) or MRT (MRT goes to Taipei County). Tickets run from 100NT to 250NT. Cuba will be sending their A-Squad, which means they'll murder everyone else (they've won 34 of the 55 previous World Cups). There may be a rematch from last year's World Baseball Classic of Cuba/Japan in the final. Venezuela, Panama, Canada and Mexico also have very strong teams, not to mention the US. This is a great opportunity to see some of the best signed and unsigned talent in the world for very little money. If anyone is interested in going to some games, please contact me.
